What's the Difference?

Free-range animals have access to the outdoors, but that access can be limited. In many commercial settings, this may mean a small door leading to a concrete or dirt lot, and animals might not spend much time outside at all. The USDA requires outdoor access but doesn't define how much space or what kind of environment that should be.
